Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some generic questions that we are often asked. Please note that specific situations may sometimes dictate a different response.

Please contact us with any specific questions and we would be only to pleased to reply.

Do you attend the rehearsal?

To us attending the rehearsal is a key to ensuring that video coverage of your special day goes smoothly. In fact we are reluctant to take on any wedding where we cannot attend the rehearsal, as our reputation for a quality service are on the line here. We have a standard checklist that we run through at the rehearsal ranging from where we can place the camera(s), position of power outlets, parking, audio issues and of course the flow of the ceremony.

Attending of the rehearsal is included in all our prices.

How do you clearly record the sound during the wedding day?

As an absolute minimum we always have the groom wear a radio microphone during the ceremony to clearly pick up the vows of the couple. In addition we have on camera microphones, and where we are able to we will also tap into the ceremony and reception PA systems and record these sources. During editing we mix all these audio sources to provide not only a clear soundtrack but one with great ambiance.

Do you use extra lighting when filming?

We find that video lighting, whether on or off camera, is very distracting for everyone and is largely unnecessary for today's professional cameras. For this reason we will never use extra lighting in the ceremony. Its is also only on rare occasions would we use extra lighting at the reception, where perhaps we are interviewing guests where only candle lighting exists.

When we are filming an interview with a couple such as a "How We Met", which is usually done in their home at an earlier or later date, we do employ extra lighting to create a truly professional look and feel to the segment.

Can we have our wedding video in the new wide screen format?

You have the option of either standard TV 4:3 format or widescreen TV 16:9 format when we present the program on DVD. If you want the program on VHS tape (not common these days) standard TV 4:3 format is available only. If you would like widescreen DVD and standard screen VHS, this can be arranged but an additional cost.

It is necessary for us to know your chosen format before we begin any filming as this effects the camera setup and how we frame our shots.

Please note that the anamorphic stretching employed for the 16:9 format will result in a slightly softer image which some clients prefer for a more romantic look.

Can we choose our own music for our wedding video?

Yes you can. Included in our price is a special licence to allow us to use copyrighted music in your video provided that it is only played in a private home situation. Any special music must be supplied to us during the editing phase which we will naturally return to you at completion.

How long does it take to complete the video?

Following completion of filming and acquisition of any other media such as photos or music it generally takes between 4 and 6 weeks to complete your video whether on DVD or VHS tape. Midway through the editing process we will arrange a viewing and review meeting with you to ensure that you are happy edit content and to address any queries that we may have.
